采用优质白煤，经精选、破碎、筛选加工而成。外观光泽度好，呈多棱形颗粒状，抗压耐磨性强，机械强度高,化学性能稳定，在酸性、中性、碱性水中都不溶解，一般用于双层和三层过滤。无烟煤滤料具有良好的比表面积，各项指标均达到建设部(CJ/T44-1999)标准。无烟煤滤料是特别从深井矿物中精选的，具有高的含碳量百分比。无烟煤滤料采用人工分类,可减少无关矿物质并降低灰分含量。还经过过滤和冲洗，确保其适合水过滤之用。由于具有较好的固体颗粒保持能力，因此无烟煤能够可靠地提高悬浮颗粒清除能力。此外，它的均匀系数较低，有助于加快流速。
